Agreed on this being a great song and on Singularity being from a darker place. Nice to see a Mae fan liking Singularity. STEAMPUNK…haha, nice.
12. favorite song from singularity: novocaine
it’s not so typical, so hypocritical for me to act this way,
but novocaine sets in and i pretend the real is fake.
see the master strike up his band to play…
the music screams in me but i don’t hear a single thing.
the bonus track that nobody’s ever heard!!!!!
ugh i love this song so muuuuuch. it was hell deciding a verse to put up there ahah. i love every lyric in this song, every note, every just movement oh it’s so beautiful. this song is just industrial. HOW STEAMPUNK IS THIS SONG.
it’s not even regular mae, like it feels too rock-and-rolly and rough and like…pessimistic? haha i usually don’t categorize mae as particularly optimistic music, but the entirety of singularity was kind of…dark. it had darker tones than all of the other albums. maybe that’s the reason why this is forever one of my favorite mae albums, it’s just different, it’s darker and angrier.
the overlapping at the end ghdkjfda~*~* i need to know who the voices in this song are, because they can’t be all dave. can dave even get that low? /tenorswag
just…yes;; i wish i could do posts about brink of disaster and just let go and release me too. xD
As a biased participant in this discourse, I will offer my opinion—that is…this is one of my favorite MAE songs. Mark constructed the drum loop that opens the song while we were on tour with….if my memory serves me correctly…. Circa Survive and Mutemath. He set up mics and left them running for hours to record the sound of the outside traffic. (He’s a genius). It’s one of my favorite guitar solo’s ever in a Mae song. Also, the song has guest vocals by Kenna. Oh yeah, the Mark’s bass line in the chorus is so good.
